About IRC

The Centre (IRC-UHVE) was established at IKG Punjab Technical University in August 2014 after 3 years of rigorous effort of evaluating the veracity and effectiveness of the Universal Human Values approach to value education. I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU) was established in the Year 1997 under the Punjab Technical University Act, 1996(Punjab Act No. 1 of 1997) to provide for the establishment and incorporation of a University for the advancement of technical education and developement thereof in the State of Punjab and for matters connected therewith. In pursuance of this Act, the University started its journey with 09 engineering colleges and few management colleges affiliated to it. Since then, the University has come a long way and during this Academic Session 2014-15, the University has affiliated 107 engineering Colleges, 140 Management and Computer Application courses, 33 institutions imparting Pharmacy education, 06 colleges imparting Hotel Management education, 08 Colleges providing Architecture Education and 21 Regional Centre for M.Tech and Ph.D in different branches of Engineering and Management and 01 Regional Centre for M.Pharmacy. More then 2100+ Learning Centres of PTU are providing professional education through Distance Learning all over the Country and abroad.

The International Resource Centre for Universal Human Values & Ethics (IRC-UHVE or the centre) is focused on facilitating the humanization of education globally; in particular professional, technical and higher education. Human education would ensure definite human conduct in the student; and thus the student would have the vision, commitment, competence and practice to make effort for a humane society.  The centre aspires to be a living model of a humane family. 

The Centre (IRC-UHVE) was established at IKG Punjab Technical University in August 2014 after 3 years of rigorous effort of evaluating the veracity and effectiveness of the Universal Human Values approach to value education. This approach has also been successfully tried out and is now established at 31 universities in 6 states of India and 1 university in Bhutan over the last 11 years.


Key Goals

  1. To Develop resource persons, Focused effort for preparation of Resource Persons & Entrepreneurs
  2. Facilitating the Conduct of Foundation Course in all the affiliated institution. The Foundation Course in Human Values and Professional Ethics has been introduced in 2011 and is consistently running as an essential credit course in and examinations are conducted in Punjabi, Hindi and English
  3. Prepare conducive environment through Sharing / proliferating UHV in universities.
  4. Living model, Centre of Excellence using technology / management (IRC is one example) – as an output, teachers & students are living accordingly & are resource persons.
